Sales
Certified Scientific Instruments is an engineering-driven company; we are not driven by sales. We only sell when the instrument is right. As Doug Turner, Certified Scientific's Director of Instrumentation, says, "we're not making sausage here... we don't grind these out."
Because we separate the front office sales "push" from the lab's quality control, we have multiple instruments finished and on the shelf so that we are in a position to ship instruments as they are requested.
If you are looking for a specific instrument, for example an Expedite/8909, we normally have these in stock and will provide you with quote that includes a legitimate serial # and supporting documentation. Beware of the caveat "subject to prior sale", which is a ruse used when a broker doesn't have the machine in their possession.
If you are shopping for an expensive unit, we invite you to come and see it before you buy; we will normally refund your airfare upon purchase.
Be slow to give a "deposit", especially if you are a major institution - pay only once your instrument has been delivered and installed. On a sequencer, this means when spatial and spectral calibrations have been passed in your lab. We "wet test" every sequencer with spatial and spectral calibrations before they leave our lab - installing them is a repeat performance necessary to certify your quality instrument purchase.
Putting it bluntly, you can get an instrument cheaper at auction on occasion, cheaper from a "broker" on occasion or on eBay - but you will not get better value than CSI or our European colleague, AME Bioscience.
